The Pre-Event Facial Timeline: When to Book Before a Wedding or Big Occasion
One of the most common questions we get at Avere Studio: "How far in advance should I book a facial before my wedding/event?" The honest answer is that timing matters more than most people realise, and the wrong timeline can leave your skin worse off, not better.
Why timing is everything
Some facials involve mild redness, temporary breakouts (called "purging"), or light peeling as the skin adjusts and renews. Booking a more intensive treatment too close to a big event risks exactly the wrong outcome, visible reaction on the day you need your skin to look its calmest.
The three-month mark: address underlying concerns
If you have specific concerns (persistent congestion, uneven tone, dullness), three months out is the ideal window to begin a structured series of treatments. This gives enough time for cumulative improvement and allows us to adjust the plan if your skin responds differently than expected.
The six-week mark: refine and build glow
At six weeks out, we typically shift toward treatments focused on radiance and texture refinement, building on the groundwork laid in the initial months. This is also a safe window for slightly more active treatments, since any mild reaction has time to fully settle before the event.
The two-week mark: gentle maintenance only
Two weeks before a big event is not the time to try anything new. This is the window for gentle, hydrating, low-risk facials designed purely to maintain and enhance what's already been built, never to introduce a new active ingredient or intensive treatment.
The week-of: the final glow session
Three to five days before the event is ideal for a final, gentle glow-focused facial. This is intentionally light-touch: hydration, gentle exfoliation, and a calming mask, timed so any mild redness has fully settled by the big day.
What to avoid entirely in the final week
No new products, no intensive peels, no treatments you haven't tried before. This is not the week to experiment, it's the week to protect the progress you've already made.
Building your personalised pre-event plan
Every skin type responds differently, which is why we build a genuinely personalised timeline based on your skin's current condition, not a generic template. The earlier you start the conversation, the more we can accomplish safely.
